Foundation is one of those products that I don't like to change often as once I like a product it's very hard for me to switch it up to something new. For a while I've heard great things about the new Nars Light Reflecting Foundation. This new formula is made with both skincare and makeup ingredients meaning that the more you wear the foundation the better your skin will look and feel over time. The finish is meant to be a lit from within glow, hence the name having light reflecting in it. This is very different for me as I usually prefer a matte finish however now that I've been wearing it I can tell you that it does in fact look lovely once on.
The first couple of things you'll notice when you try this foundation is that it actually has a pump as gone are the days when you had to buy a pump separately for a Nars foundation (with the exception of the Sheer Glow Foundation for some reason?). Also you'll notice that the consistency is a lot thinner than other foundations. As this is the case I think it's best to apply this foundation with a beauty blender because then you can control exactly how much you want to put on and the way in which you blend it in. I bought the shade Deauville which is a light warm toned neutral shade which hopefully will work for me in the winter too as it's not that much different looking from my real skin colour. There are loads of shades to choose from, so you'll definitely be able to find the right one for you.

I was pleasantly surprised when it came to the coverage as for a thin foundation this covers the face very well! You can also easily build it up, especially when using a beauty blender if you just dab more foundation onto the parts that need more coverage and then it'll easily blend in to create a seamless finish. The only downfall I've found with this product is that due to the dewiness of the finish of the foundation, it lasts about 5 or 6 hours before it needs re-powdering, which for me is mainly on the chin and the nose. For oily skin people I would highly recommend powdering this straight after application and then if you want to you can always use a setting spray as well. It may still need powdering later on in the day depending on the weather for example however at least this technique will give it more chance to last longer.
What I think is unique about this foundation is the way it looks. Even after you've powdered it you are still left with a radiant finish which never usually happens when using other foundations. Seeing as glowy makeup is a trend, I can see why this foundation has gone viral on socials. From using this product for three weeks now I can confidently recommend it. I personally think that no matter what your skin type is everyone will love it!

It's been a while since I've done a proper beauty haul. Apart from picking up one or two makeup products while I pop to Boots to buy the essentials, I haven't actually bought that many new makeup items. About 3 weeks ago I think FeelUnique had a sale on lots of items from all of the beauty categories that they sell, so I couldn't help but take a look myself and luckily I found some really great products at some brilliant prices, so I'm gunna talk about what I bought while also giving you a mini review of each product (if I've used it yet). So lets get started!
One of the first brands I had a look through was Maybelline as I've been obsessed with their lipsticks recently, so I had to buy a backup of the Maybelline Colorsensational in Nude Embrace. I actually wrote a review of this recently as it's been my most worn lipstick of the year so far. The reason why I love it is because it's the perfect brown/beige nude lipstick for my skin tone (and it would suit many people too) also it's in a matte formula so it lasts for a long time on the lips too. For this reason I bought another shade from the range called Melted Chocolate which is more of a proper milk chocolate shade, so if you love brown lipsticks you'll love this too.

One of my favourite mascaras is the Maybelline Lash Sensational so I wanted to try the waterproof version which comes in the same packaging but with light blue writing on it. So far I've been loving the waterproof version of this mascara. It does exactly the same as the original as it curls, volumises and gives so much legnth and definition to the lashes whilt also providing the blackest of black mascara you can get. It's been so useful recently as the UK has gotten quite humid recently, even when it hasn't been that hot like it was a few weeks or so ago.

Real Techniques is one of my most used brush brands other than Zoeva and I've been wanting to try the Real Techniques Powder Brush for a while now so I'm glad that I've got my hands on it. I haven't tried it yet but it's massive so it should be a good brush just from looking at it.

Another mascara that I've wanted to try for a while has been the Maybelline Great Lash mascara as it's been a makeup classic for many years (it came out in the 1970s), so I decided to buy it. I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed with it actually. It does give your lashes a good lengthening effect, but that's about it really. It doesn't create enough volume or curl for me and it also does smudge on my upper eye area, so this is a product that I wouldn't recommend unfortunately.

I've been trying out a lot of different concealers recently and one that lots of beauty lovers go on and on about it the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Eye Concealer. I bought it in the Neutralizer shade which gives a more yellow base to the concealer, but for me this works as I have very, very dark under eye circles and unfortunately as mine are hereditary I can never get rid of them, so a concealer for under the eyes is a must for me. This one is great as it covers really well so you can't see any veins or grey areas but it doesn't look cakey which can happens sometimes if you buy the wrong type of concealer. I'm really impressed with this concealer so I definitely recommend this for sure.

You know there are some beauty products that you can't help but wonder why you never bought them even though they have so much hype surrounding them and it's not until you've actually used the products in question that you realise why so many people have in fact praised a certain product. This is the catagory that the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder was in and I'm here to tell you why it's the only contour product that you need in your life.
When I first started contouring I always used to wonder why it would take sooooo long to blend properly and even then it never looked quite right at the end of my makeup application. It wasn't only until recently (say the last 6 months) that I realised that I wasn't using the wrong type of product but I was using the wrong undertone of powder contour. If you want to create a shadow in a certain area of your face (contouring) then you need to use a grey undertone not a warm undertone like you do when you are bronzing up your face. This is the reason why so many people including myslef in the past got contouring so wrong because we were using products that people should use to bronze their face not to create shadow or definition with!
So when my realisation happened I knew that I had to do some research into exactly what contour powders were actually on the market- the answer was not many at all really, which is good in some ways as it gave me only a few choices to choose from but the disadvantage is that all the products were from high end brands. I then decided to go for the one that was most heavily reviewed/featured on YouTube and that was of course the Sculpting Powder. After watching many videos of beauty gurus talking about the product and using it in tutorials I knew that the shade Medium would be the best one for me as my skin tone is somewhere between light to medium and now I can happilly say that it is definitely the right shade for me. After having the product for a few weeks now I can safely say that it is one of the best beauty products that I've ever purchased as it gives you the perfect cool under tone contour shade, it's very highly pigmented so it will last you for ages even if in the packaging it doesn't look like it would and also it's a dream to blend so you won't see any harsh lines on your face once you've finished applying your makeup. I'll show you a few photos of me wearing it so you can see for yourself the type of shadow it creates on your face, which is basically what contouring should do.
In both of these photos I applied the contour powder under my cheekbones in the hollows of my cheeks and you can see from the photos that it definitely gives you more of a chisled and defined look to your face than if you were to wear nothing there. I promise you this product is definitely worth the hype and the price tag, so if you are in the market for a brilliant contour product then definitely buy the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder, you will not be disappointed.

I am beyond excited to review this product! I was very lucky to get my hands on the MAC x Fleur De Force lipstick. I really hope this lipstick is still in stock, I can't see it on the MAC or Selfridges website but I think you can still get it in Selfridges stores. I'm going to review it anyway as I'm really impressed by this lipstick!
I've been watching Fleur's channel since late 2011, so it's safe to say that I'm a huge fan of her, especially as I think that she hasn't changed personality wise, she's still as down to earth as she was when she started, so that's amazing to see! So because of this of course I was going to buy her lipstick when it came out, so here's all the info on it and what I think of it.
This lipstick is meant to be the perfect nude shade for many different skin tones and I agree with that as it has a mixture of both brown tones and peach tones to it, so people who like both of those tones will love this lipstick. It's in a Creamsheen formula which is Fleur's favourite finish of MAC lipsticks, so this means it's a moisturising lipstick that has a slightly sheerer finish than the Matte and Amplified finishes. It still has great pigmentation to it though and it's easy to apply as the colour is quite buildable so you can apply as much colour as you want depending on what you want your makeup look to be like.

I highly recommend that you get your hands on this lipstick if you can. I think it's a really lovely neutral lipstick and in my opinion Fleur has done a brilliant job at creating this shade (she didn't just put her name on it, in the vlog you can see her making it, so there you go!). Recently I've had a bit of a writing block when it comes to blogging. I haven't bought hardly any new makeup products so that means there are really any reviews to write and also on the Music front there hasn't been a particular song I've been loving (apart from Ed Sheeran's new album, but who doesn't love that!) so yes I've been a bit stuck with it. However I then realised that as we've just entered April now I can actually put up a favourites post which I hardly ever do. This favourites has a twist to it though as I will be showing you how I created this warm toned everyday look.
I didn't use any foundation for this look for two reasons: 1 I'm lazy with it so I sometimes can't be bothered to put any on and 2 now that I have removable braces I have to brush my teeth after every time I eat so wearing foundation is actually quite impractical right now. Instead I used the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer on any spots and redness and the Seventeen Stay Put Concealer under the eyes to hide my dark under eye circles. For powder I used my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Powder which is honestly the best powder for keeping your makeup intact and I've used it for years so I'll never change it for another one, it's just fab.
For my eye makeup I used the beautiful Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette that has a stunning array of warm toned neutral shades. I used the palest brown shade all over the eyelid as it's a great colour to contour with. I then used the L'Oreal Paris Le Kohl in Cappucino which is a deep dark brown shade that adds real intesity to the look. I lined both the upper lash line and the waterline with it and it lasted really well and faded very naturally which is good.
My current mascara is a sample size of the Charlotte Tilbury Lengendary Lashes Mascara which is an amazing mascara! It's basically a high-end version of my favourite mascara, the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, so if you know how good that one is then you can imagine how great this one is too. My lipstick of choice was the Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick in Salute which is a gorgeous mid toned, pretty everyday colour that's also perfect for Spring.

Not too long ago I received a newsletter e-mail from L'Oreal saying that people could try out their new Nude Magique Cushion foundation, so I filled out my details and then patiently waited for the foundation to arrive so that I could try it out and review it. Not too long after that it arrived and I tried it straight away because I was so excited to use this product as I've never tried anything like it before. I know other brands started making them before (I think Lancome may have been the first?) however this is the first drugstore version so it's quite exciting.
I decided to pick the shade 03 and luckily it pretty much matches my skin tone perfectly so that was lucky! Sometimes when it comes to samples you can pick totally the wrong shade and then it ruins everything which is not great, but thank goodness I didn't this time haha. Anyway this is a very lightweight foundation but I do think it can be built up if you wanted it to provide more coverage for you. One good thing for this time of year is that it has SPF 29, so if you are out in the sun it will provide some sun protection for you which is fab!
As you can see once opened you get a sponge applicator to apply the foundation with. I actually think it's quite a good sponge to apply it with, the only thing I would say is because it's quite a small sponge you will need to wash it after a few uses, at least once a week. I like that you get a mirror with it, it just adds to the cute packaging of the whole thing.
This is what it looks like inside once you've lifted the lid. You see the 'cushion' part straight away and underneath that is where the liquid foundation is. So all you do is get the sponge applicator, pat it into the cushion foundation and then when you apply it you can either pat it in or you can glide it across you're face. What I liked about this is that it was pretty quick to apply and you also didn't need much of the product to stretch around the whole face which is good, but like I mentioned before you will need to add another layer if you want a more medium type of coverage. I still powdered my face afterwards becuase otherwise my makeup will just disappear, so if you have oily-combination skin just keep that in mind, but if you have drier skin then there probably won't be as much need to powder.
What it looks like when it's applied
Overall I do quite like this foundation as I like the compact design of it and the product itself is pretty good. The only thing that puts me off buying it once it's run out is that when it's off promotion it will be £14.99 I think, which personally I think is a bit too pricey for something that's so compact. Maybe if I suddenly had to do a lot of travelling I would think about buying it as I feel it would be great for that but if you're not going far I think the price is just a bit steep for what it is. If you do want to buy it now it's on promotion in Boots and Superdrug for £9.99 which is a much better price, so I highly recommend buying it now if you want to try it out and then if you like it you can stock up on a few before the price increase.

There will always be those products that people just can't live without in their makeup bag. For me it's hard to choose just one, which is why I have two must haves: mascara and concelaer however today we are going to concentrate on just the one- concealer. Recently I read an article on Into The Gloss where they talked about the best concealer for different types of looks and finishes and when I was asked on what my opinions were of concealer I was inspired to write a post on it ( you can read the original post here ).
The main reason why I love concealer so much is that it can do what a foundation can do like even out skin tone, cover up spots and brighten up the under eye area, but it takes much less time as you don't have to use a brush to blend it all in as you can just use your fingers to do that and a little bit dotted around the face can actually go a long way. Add some powder to set it and then you are ready to head out if you are in a rush (you can't apply foundation when you are in such a rush unless you are an utter pro with blending it in in less than 2 minutes!).
One thing I've learnt throughout my years of wearing makeup is that it's important to get the shades of concealer right as much as possible. For example under eye concealers or ones you are going to use for under the eye should be lighter in shade than the ones you would use to cover spots as you want to brighten the under eye area, which you definitely don't want to do with spots. Even better would be to add an under eye corrector first before you add your concealer. They are usually more pinkier in tone as they will cancel out any blue or purple tones you don't want showing through. The concealer I use for the eyes is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in the shade 51 and for spots I use the legendary Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade 2, which is not only the best as covering spots and redness but it's so super affordable as well, I loooove it!
My application technique involves patting in the concealer gently for under eye circles and then using the ping point technique for covering spots, however I use my finger instead of a brush so I just push the concealer onto the spot then pat it in until it looks like it's blended into the skin properly.

I didn't ask for much for Christmas last year, however there was one thing I really wanted to get which was the YSL Black Opium Eau De Toilette perfume and luckily I did and I was very, very grateful to receive it. It's by far my favourite perfume I've ever smelt so far. It just smells really sophisticated and grown up even as it has a darker scent to it than any perfume I've had before. I can't tell you exactly what notes are in this perfume so excuse me while I quote from YSL's website so you know the exact details of what's in the fragrance: 'The hedonistic black coffee note of the original Black Opium scent is transformed into an ultra-luminous green coffee accord with a heart of Jasmine Tea on a base of sensual Patchouli, white woods and musk'.
They also mention all the notes on the website too, saying that the top notes are 'Blackcurrent Accord, Pear Accord and Green Mandarin Essence'. The Heart notes are 'Jasmine Tea, Orange Blossom and Floral Solar Accord' and the Base Notes are 'Coffee Accord, White Musks and Blond Woods'.
To me I can definitely smell the musk, coffee and orange in it the most, but also to me it kind of smells a bit like rich dark chocolate for some reason haha. I have the 30ml version which is £39, it may sound expensive for that (which it is) however I love it so much that when it eventually does run out I will be repurchasing it again, but if you'd rather have a 50ml one then that would set you back £52, so almost a pound for 1ml. Either way it's a fabulous perfume and I highly recommend it.
