Charlotte Tilbury Quick & Easy Makeup in Super Chic

I'm back after almost two months away from the blog. Again I've had writer's block however this time it relates more to the fact that I'm not sure it's tasteful to write about beauty during this current cost of living crisis. However on the flip side people need to treat themselves to something nice now and again, even if it's a new lipstick 3 or 4 times a year or maybe a new perfume once a year. I've decided to simply not put the heating on if we have an odd cold spring day and most days I choose one big meal cooked or not cooked and then I have something small, so either a big lunch and no dinner or a small lunch but a big dinner. I know it's off topic however I think it's important for people to know what members of of the public are doing to save money without having to go without a few things that brings them joy in life, which for me is beauty, fashion & music.

I couldn't resist one of Charlotte Tilbury's latest offerings, her new Quick & Easy Makeup in Super Chic. This is not a new concept for the brand as back in 2016 (or around that time) Charlotte released her first concept of the Quick & Easy makeup kits. Back then all the products were cased in a transparent makeup bag which you could take with you wherever you went from the office to the bar. However for this new incarnation the products are now cased in a reusable plastic box that flips upwards to show a mirror and 3 products inside- a cream eyeshadow stick, a cream blush & lip stick and a cream highlighter stick. These products are meant to be multi purpose, for example you can use the cream blush as a lipstick and the highlighter can always be used on the eyes as an inner corner eyeshadow or on the brow bone to make that area pop more. The only product that isn't really multi- purpose is the eyeshadow, especially this particular one as it's a matte brown which you think may be great as a contour shade however in my opinion it doesn't blend well enough to do this.

Lets go in order of how the products are presented. First we have the cream eyeshadow which is a matte mid tone brown shade, which is not too cool toned or too warm toned, it is the perfect shade for everyone in my opinion! This for me is actually the weakest product in the kit as you have to work really quickly to blend it before it sets and this could be because none of the products have lids as you simply click them back into the main case for them to be protected, unfortunately though I think the eyeshadow does dry out a bit because of this. The positive of this is that once you do have it on your eyes it stays put quite literally all day, or at least between 8 & 12 hours, but in all honesty who wears their makeup more than that anyway? Another positive is that it looks good when used around the lower lash line to add impact to the eyes without making the look over dramatic.

Next up we have the cream blush that's also a lipstick. I love this product as for most people this would be the perfect shade to wear for summer as it's a peachy nude that does actually pack a punch! My advice is not to set the cheek area with powder before you use both this and the highlighter as otherwise they'll not blend seamlessly with your foundation because they'll stick to it instead! As a lipstick I think that this product works well as it glides onto your lips easily as it's a soft matte formula, so it's not too matte or too luminous which makes it very easy to use. Depending on how you use this product depends on how long it'll last, for example if you put this straight onto your lips as you would a normal lipstick then it'll last well until you eat a big meal however if you pat it on with your fingers to use it as more of a lip stain the of course it will probably last an hour or two before it starts to disappear however this is the main point of the product, to top it up as and when you please which is why it's really helpful to have a mirror in the case.

The last product we have in the kit is the gorgeous highlighter! This is my favourite product as I think that the tone of the shade is lovely as it's a neutral toned pearl that would suit a range of skin tones as it proves on the Charlotte Tilbury website where the model who has medium toned skin is wearing this shade, but equally it would suit someone like me who fits in the fair to light section of skin tones. This highlighter blends very well as you can either apply it directly on top of your foundation with the stick itself or you can dab a bit onto your finger and then apply it to the cheek for a very subtle but sophisticated glow. As I previously mentioned you could easily use this shade on the eyes too or if you like a pearly or glowy look on the eyes then you can apply it all over the lid however I would recommend to blend it properly before it starts to set down.

As you can tell from the photo these products work really well together to create a beautiful glowy look for summer, finish off with setting spray before you do your eye makeup and then it'll be locked in all day. The kit costs £55 and at the moment they are exclusively available on the Charlotte Tilbury website. There are five looks to choose from, so you are bound to find one that you'll love!

I hope you enjoyed reading my review of the new Quick & Easy Makeup kit. Have you tried any of them yet and if you have what do you think?

Thanks for reading
