Pat McGrath Eye Ecstasy Sublime Eyeshadow Palette

I've always wanted to try a Pat McGrath eyeshadow palette however at around £120 for one palette, it's not affordable by anyone's means. This is why I was so excited when I saw on someone else's blog that the brand released a mini eyeshadow palette called the Eye Ectasy Sublime Palette. This palette contains 5 beautiful shimmer shades all under an umbrella of neutral colours. As they are shimmer based they are meant to be worn over another shadow, preferably a matte one so that the eyeshadow stays on for longer. This is exactly what I did when I first wore one of the shadows on a day when I went to a socially distance Glastonbury party at the end of June.

I wanted to talk about the packaging first as it's incredibly different to the normal Pat McGrath eyeshadow palettes. The Sublime palette shades are encased in a white, very slightly transparent plastic with the brand's logo in the middle of the lid of the palette. Even though the packaging may be disappointing to some, it does make you focus more on the actual look of the colours, rather than the packaging, which is something I expect you'd normally do with these palettes.

These are the swatches of the shades. Starting with a black brown shimmer, then a cooler brown shimmer, a bright antique yellow gold shimmer, a bronze shimmer and finally a chocolate brown shimmer. When I tested it I tried the bronze shimmer shade on top of a neutral matte shade from a Mac palette. I have to say I was very impressed with the pigmentation of the shadow as you could clearly see it well once applied. I applied it with my finger as the shimmery effect wasn't showing up on my brush when I tried to apply it that way. In terms of longevity, I'm afraid that's where things started to fail a bit. I was out for four hours and by the time I got back home the bronze colour was still showing however the shimmer that was there within the shadow before had pretty much all gone. I do have to note though that the day I tried it the temperature was 29 degrees celcius, so basically pretty hot for London! I will try it again soon on a day when it's cooler and perhaps raining with low humidity just to see how long it lasts then. It's a shame as the colours are beautiful and very wearable, so like I mentioned I won't give up on them just yet. If you do want to purchase it I have a link herehttps://shopstyle.it/l/bjDaW

Let me know if you've tried this palette and what you think of it, I'd love to know!

Stay safe and see you soon!
