A new release from Urban Decay- The Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Eyeshadow Palette

Hi, how's everything going with you? Me, well I'm not too bad myself thanks and I've been feeling particularly excited to try out some new makeup that I've bought recently. The first product that I bought and was hugely excited to start using was the brand new Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Eyeshadow Palette which contains 12 never before released and seen matte eyeshadows in a combination of both cool and warm tones, so it's a palette to suit everyone. I first heard about this eyeshadow palette from watching NikkieTutorials do a review and makeup look using the palette and as soon as I saw her use it I just knew I had to buy it, so I hopped onto the Urban Decay website as soon as it was released so I could get it as soon as possible and I'm now so happy I was able to get it without them going out of stock. This will be quite a picture heavy post so sorry if you don't like scrolling through loads of images but I think for this post the photos do the shades justice for the palette, so I thought it was for the best so I hope you like them!

Another thing to note before I get on with the main review is that like with the other previous Naked palettes it comes with a mini double ended brush which is a fab addition to the palette and is especially useful if you are someone who's always on-the-go.

The shades in this palette are very classic neutral shades but there are also a few more interesting colours in shades Lethal, Extra Bitter & Magnet. Lethal is a gorgeous aubergine/purple shade which would be great to use along the lash line to add depth or you could use it in the outer corner to smoke out your eyeshadow look. Extra Bitter is a beautiful Autumnal red/orange brown colour that is just perfect to wear for this time of the year and Magnet is a smokey grey shade even though in the pan it looks more like a blue grey colour. I think it's great that these 3 shades are in the palette because it makes the palette more interesting compared to other neutral palettes out there that tend to look the same really.

The first time I wore these shadows I used 3 of the warmer toned shades from the bottom row of the palette. I first used Faith all over the eye lid, then I took Extra Bitter on the outside corner of the eye and then up into the crease and then lastly I lined the upper lash line with Blackjack and then I just added some mascara to finish the look.

I found that the shadows lasted for a good 5 hours before I removed my makeup. I actually put the eyeshadows on at 6pm and they were still there when I went to remove my makeup at 11pm, but I'm convinced that they would last all day if you wore them from morning to night.

The only negative thing I have to mention about this palette is that even though the pigmentation is good overall, for some reason the cooler shades on the top row don't seem to be as pigmented as the warmer shades on the bottom row do for some reason. It doesn't really bother me too much as I don't mind going back in and adding more eyeshadow on the brush, but still I thought it was something that you should be aware of.

Now onto some swatches

L-R: Blow, Nude, Commando, Tempted & Instinct (I completely forgot to swatch Lethal sorry, but like I mentioned it's a gorgeous purple shade and you can see what it looks like above anyway).

L-R: Blackjack, Magnet, Lockout& Faith (I tried to show Extra Bitter but you can't really see it).

L-R:  Extra Bitter & Pre-Game

They also give you a free sample of the Perversion mascara which is pretty cool. I'll definitely be trying it out some time soon.

I really hope you enjoyed reading this review and I hope it provided you with enough details that you may have wanted to know about the palette. If you do have the palette do let me know what you think of it and also let me know if you think you'll buy this palette after reading this review, I'd love to know your views.

Thanks so much for reading!
