Why the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette is just as versatile as the original Naked Palette

So I caved in and bought the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette like so many other bloggers and beauty lovers have done. I've actually had it now for about a month and I have to say that I really love it, in fact more than I thought I actually would. When I heard that Urban Decay were bringing out a Naked Smoky palette the question on my lips was 'How's that gonna work?' A palette that belongs to the Naked palette family but has dark colours to it? But once I'd seen what it looked like I realised why it could actually work. The majority may be dark shades, however they've cleverly added some neutral shades (I'd say about 6) and 3 of those are matte shades which is a bonus. By adding those lighter colours to  mix I think it actually makes the Smoky palette just as versatile as the original Naked palette. With this palette you can create loads of smoky looks and a few day time appropriate looks but with the original Naked palette you can create loads of day time neutral looks, however you can come up with some ideas for bronzy/golden smoky eye looks.

Here are the shades of the original palette so you can compare the sahdes:

And here are the shades of the Smoky palette up close:

L-R: High, Dirtysweet, Radar, Armor

Slanted, Dagger, Black Market, Smolder

Password, Whiskey, Combust, Thirteen

It comes with a double ended brush- one side in more of an application/blending brush and on the other side there's a smudger brush.

I have to say I'm very impressed with the Smoky palette. The shades are well pigmented, they last for a long time and with the free sample of primer potions they give you the colours last even longer. The double ended brush performs well and I adore the grey smoky design on the packaging. Speaking of the packaging it's definitely a huge upgrade to the original Naked palette which is made of a questionable cardboard and velvet design.  Now that I have both I don't know which one I prefer because I've been using the newest one almost daily, but then I did that too when I first bought the original palette haha. Either way I adore them both equally.

I really hope you enjoyed this review/comparison post on the two palettes. Do you have a favourite out of the two? Let me know in the comments.
