Artist Spotlight: Jimmy Cliff

I love Spotify for many reasons: for listening to artists and songs you already love, for the playlists you can just play when you're in a particular mood and for discovering new artists within a different range of genres.

When I was listening to a Reggae playlist I came across a song I know called You Can Get It If You Really Want and I found out it was by a musician called Jimmy Cliff. Jimmy Cliff is a reggae artist who has been making music since the age of 14 and is now in his late 60s, so his career has spanned almost 50 years. While listening to the reggae playlist I realised that most of the songs I really liked apart from the Bob Marley songs were songs by Jimmy Cliff. The ones I'm talking about are I can see clearly now, The Harder They Come, Many Rivers To Cross, Reggae Night and as already mentioned You Can Get It If You Really Want. I'm so glad I've discovered more of his songs, I can't stop playing them now every time I go on Spotify.

I hope you liked this post. Let me know what music you've been checking out recently, whether new or old I'd love to know.

Thanks for reading

  1. I want to check out this artist now! Currently I've been so obsessed with Backstreet Boys :P I still have no idea why but I am loving the throwback :)

    1. Yeah you totally should. I don't usually listen to reggae music that much but his songs are so good! x
